At Work Right NW we take workplace safety seriously. We are so committed to helping the industrial athlete stay safe, we wanted to showcase a few incidents that, had the Wet Bandits had a chance to meet with an injury prevention specialist, they could have avoided serious injury. So sit back, relax, and make sure faucets aren’t running as we break down how Marv and Harry could have better survived the McCallister house by Reviewing their Hazards. “Fuller, go easy on the Pepsi!”

INCIDENT #1: Ice on the Stairs!

In Chicago around the holidays, it is notoriously cold, snowy, and icy. Ice should always be taken into consideration during the winter months… especially in Chicago. Harry and Marv fail to take this into consideration and pay the price… twice. If one set of stairs is iced down, maybe assume the other set will be as well!

Marv: He’s a kid. Kids are stupid. I know I was.
Harry: You still are, Marv.

INCIDENT #2: Hot Handle!

When Harry finally ascends the front steps and gets to the door, he falls victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous of which is ‘never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly-less well-known is this:’ “Always test the metal to see if it’s hot!”

Cue that Harry missed:
 – Glowing red/orange of the handle indicating that it was heated.

Conclusion: Be wary of objects that do not look normal. They, in fact, could have been meddled with, leading to serious harm.

INCIDENT #3: Mistaken iDENTity… GET IT?? He gets hit with
an iron and
dents his face… Classic!

Marv, now in the basement after tumbling down the back stairs, demonstrates for us why it is imperative to be aware of your surroundings. He is so preoccupied with scanning the basement for new traps, he assumes the string from the ceiling is connected to a light. This assumption leads to an iron to the face, placing Marv on the concussion protocol list for the week. He had no business continuing to rob the McCallisters after a hit to the head like that.

At the end of the day, these two got what they deserved by being arrested, but had they been PREPARED they may have avoided some of their many injuries.

Happy Holidays from your Work Right NW Illinois Team!
