Every workday brings new challenges for industrial athletes. Tasks change, environments shift, and surprises can pop up when least expected. But one thing never changes: the need to stay safe, avoid injuries, and finish the day ready to do it all again tomorrow. At Work Right, we know that safety doesn’t happen by chance. It’s earned through a journey of preparation.

Being prepared isn’t just a nice-to-have; it’s our first line of defense against injuries. Preparation isn’t about responding to what’s ahead; it’s about setting yourself up for success before the first task begins. It’s the difference between working defensively and working decisively. From the first stretch of a pre-shift warm-up to the final debrief of the day, being prepared is about more than readiness. It’s about resilience, intention, and strength.

That’s why Work Right has it’s own checklist to keep us out of trouble and away from injuries. Even better, we’ve turned this checklist into an easy and memorable acronym: PREPARED.

Whether we’re lifting heavy loads, navigating tight spaces, or operating equipment, the principles of being PREPARED make all the difference. Think of it as our personal guidebook for preventing strains, sprains, and other common workplace injuries. By focusing on intentional preparation, like warming up, checking your equipment, and aligning your body to the task, we set ourselves up to meet challenges head-on while keeping our bodies strong and resilient.

This year’s theme, Prevention Favors the PREPARED, is all about helping industrial athletes stay one step ahead. Each letter of the PREPARED acronym highlights key practices that protect our body while boosting our efficiency. These aren’t just tips, they’re proven strategies to keep us safe, sharp, and ready for whatever the day throws our way.

So, as we begin the new year, how prepared do you feel? How familiar are you with being PREPARED? Do you feel like you thrive in the spontaneity of unpreparedness? Or, do you already feel prepared enough? And if so, when was being over-prepared ever a bad thing?

This month, we’ll dive deeper into the PREPARED framework, exploring how its principles can become part of your daily routine. Throughout 2025, we’ll unpack each element of PREPARED, one step at a time.

And you’re not alone on this journey. Work Right’s onsite Injury Prevention Specialists will be our guides along the way, helping us navigate the path toward being fully PREPARED. They’re there to coach on proper techniques, offer real-time feedback, and ensure we’re equipped with the tools and strategies to stay injury-free.

But for now, let’s keep it simple: being prepared isn’t just about having the right tools or knowing the right techniques. It’s about preventing injuries before they happen. The better we prepare, the better our chances of staying injury-free.

Let’s make 2025 a year of smart habits, safe practices, and injury-free successes. Because when it comes to safety, Prevention Favors the PREPARED—and so do we.
